In the Twitter Tuesday assignment of this week, I built an infographic about the living areas of coyotes. This is one of the most interesting assignments of this quarter in all of my classes! The last time I made an infographic was in high school. The first step I took was setting a topic. I chose “Where do coyotes live?” because I will be focusing on coyote-human conflict in my Advocacy Project. The living area of coyotes is one of the biggest reasons why we are having conflict with them. Their high adaptability allows them to live in urban areas which caused some struggles with humans. The second step I took was gathering information. I searched “where do coyotes live in North America” in Google, and the results were grasslands, tundra, urban areas, deserts, and more. I also searched for some specific countries like Canada and Mexico. Then I found the pictures of those biomes and included them in my infographic with some brief explanations. I think this is the best way to tell my readers about the main living areas of coyotes. My infographic shows that coyotes are coexisting with humans in many different situations. Therefore my readers can better understand why coyotes conflict with humans and not most other animals. This is a picture of my infographic!

In this assignment, I learned that multimedia writing can be very creative. We can use pictures, videos, and other forms of media to perform our argument. We are no longer limited to words. It is also much more interesting and fun to do multimedia writing. However, multimedia writing requires more effort than regular writing. We have to take time to find the best pictures that align with our argument and build a related infographic. These elements will play an important role in multimedia writing.

My favorite multimedia item is this picture of a coyote walking on a city street. This picture perfectly shows that coyotes are very active in urban areas; we can even see them on the road where we drive daily. Additionally, this picture will help me to convince my reader that the conflict between coyotes and humans is real and we need to put our attention on this issue. I will use this picture when I’m talking about the main living areas of coyotes in my Advocacy Project.
