For this week's Twitter Tuesday, I follow ten more scientists and ten more organizations, like Petros Chrysafis, Sarah Primate, and Defenders of Wildlife. One organization I found very interesting is Dog Cognition Lab. They always post funny memes and cool experiments of dogs. Their posts are very fun and relaxing to read, you guys should check it out!

I chose Coyotes as my topic for the ChatGPT exercise. I realized that ChatGPT is indeed a very powerful and efficient way to start your research and gain basic knowledge of your topic. ChatGPT provided me with many aspects about coyotes and I think the most interesting one is their adaptability. Most wild animals can only thrive in a certain environment, for example, polar bears only live in the North Pole, monkeys only live in forests, and lions only live in open plains of Africa. However, the coyotes can thrive in a lot of biomes like deserts, forests, grasslands, mountains, and even urban areas! It is all thanks to their habitat and dietary flexibility. They can eat both meats and vegetables and sometimes even trash! They can adjust their breeding cycle based on the environment and the resources. These amazing traits won them a spot in urban areas and many other different environments.

I also learned many interesting facts by reading my classmates' feeds. One fact that hurt my heart is shared by Lawrence. There was an organ transplant experiment using dogs as the test subjects. Lawrence shared a picture of a two-head dog and it was shocking and scary. I can't imagine how painful those dogs would be even though this experiment benefitted humans. Another fact I learned is from Kaitlyn. She shared information about why some dogs' ears are very big. Before reading her tweet, I thought the only reason for their ears to be big is that humans think it is a cute trait. But in fact, it is because their floppy ears can collect the scent particles in the air and enhance their smelling abilities. This concept is completely new to me and I would never think those cute floppy ears can help them smell!

It is interesting to see that coyotes are able to adapt in a variety of areas, but also concerning for urban areas. I've seen a couple coyotes around my university campus, but usually never engage with humans. Do you believe coyotes roaming around urban areas is concerning?

I also followed Dog Cognition Lab!! They are super cool and I feel like they provide so much intriguing and unique information. Do you think that the organ transplant experiment was ethical for research? It's crazy to think that experiments like this are happening all over the world!

I think coyotes are so fascinating because of their adaptability. It's so interesting that they are able to survive so well in urban areas even when its something built by humans, for humans. I wonder if they have or ever will overrun any urban areas to the point where it could cause problems for us.
