In my Twitter journey of this week, I followed three new accounts that may be helpful for my research. The first account I followed is Niamh Quinn. She always tweets about the interaction between humans and wildlife. You may find many interesting stories about those interactions and use them in your research! One of the stories is about a pet cat fighting against a big mountain lion. Is it amazing?! The second account I followed is Carl Safina. Safina focuses on owls and he has raised an abandoned owl himself! My research topic is coyotes so this account may not help me much. However, this account may help my classmates who are researching Aves! In addition to owls, he also tweets about many other animals like sharks, queen conch, and polar bears! The third account I followed is Living With Coyote. This account perfectly matches my research topic. They tweet stories about coyotes and humans and many interesting facts about coyotes’ urban life! It is very interesting to read through this account. I found all three accounts by browsing the following list of one of my older following.
The three new hashtags I used to search are “coyotes”, “wildlife”, and “nature”. The hashtag “coyote” gave me a lot of interesting cartoons of coyotes which is something I didn’t expect.

This picture showed a coyote is wanting for burgers and fries, which are human food. This cartoon implied that coyotes can easily adapt to urban environments and eat what humans eat. The most productive hashtag for finding new and interesting material is “wildlife”. This hashtag showed me a lot of cute pictures of wild animals and a fun fact about them. I can enjoy the cute pictures while learning new stuff. Who would say no to this?! I would recommend this hashtag to my classmates and they might find something they need.

I considered this tweet from my three tweets as the best one. I think I did the best job of summarizing this article among all three of them. It is not easy to summarize a ten-page-long research article in a tweet or thread, I accomplished this most effectively in this tweet. I clearly stated the influence the hybridized coyote has on their niche shift and how this phenomenon may affect us.
I responded to Ava Taylor’s blog, “Extra Credit: UC Grand Slam Takeaway”. I chose this blog post because I am very curious about what my classmates thought about the ten speeches at this event. Ava’s argument is very similar to mine. We both agree that those speakers did a great job of hooking up the audience’s interest. Each presentation is only three minutes, therefore, they have to catch the audience’s attention in the first few sentences. And they all accomplished that successfully. Ava explained every point she tried to make very clearly. I can easily understand her arguments and connect them with her speeches. We also voted for the same person! Ava did a great job of explaining the reason why she voted for that person and her reason is overlapping with mine. We both think Kacie (the speaker) did a great job of adding humor elements to her presentation. However, I think Ava did a better job of explaining it than me.
